Job Summary

BakerHostetler is seeking a highly skilled Docketing Specialist to join our Intellectual Property Services department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our patent prosecution docket, ensuring timely and accurate processing of patent filings and correspondence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patent Docket Management: Review and clear US and international patent prosecution docket on a daily basis, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information.
  • Patent Filing and Correspondence: Review and docket new patent filings and correspondence to/from the USPTO or foreign agents, including quality assurance review to identify errors or omissions.
  • Docket Reporting: Prepare customized docket reports for attorneys, staff, and clients as needed, providing timely and accurate information.
  • File Transfer and Maintenance: Review incoming file transfers and add related matter details to the docket system, including reviewing electronic sources such as PAIR and other country-specific websites.
  • Correspondence Processing: Update and audit trail check of incoming and outgoing correspondence processed by peers, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with changes to IP rules and regulations, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Client Service: Maintain excellent client service to internal and external clients, providing timely and accurate information and support.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Associate's degree or work experience equivalent with a minimum of five (5) years of IP prosecution docketing experience.
  • IP Knowledge: Deep understanding of Intellectual Property rules and regulations in jurisdictions worldwide.
  • Docketing Systems: Experience and familiarity with IP docketing systems, FoundationIP (FIP) preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with attorneys, staff, and clients to identify needs and implement solutions.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel, Document Management Systems such as Net Documents.
Compensation

The expected annual salary for this position ranges from $85,000 to $100,000, depending on experience level, education/training, and relevant skills.
