Position Overview:

The Project Accountant plays a crucial role in supporting a varied internal client base, collaborating closely with Project Managers to facilitate the initiation of new projects and manage related financial processes.

This role is essential for ensuring precision and uniformity across all accounting tasks. The Project Accountant is responsible for executing monthly billing, managing accrued and deferred revenue journal entries, overseeing revenue recognition, and conducting government contract reporting and collections.

This position reports directly to the Director of Finance.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Review and verify project terms to ensure alignment with contractual agreements during project set-up.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to execute monthly billing and validate accurate invoicing to external clients.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is available to support billing processes.
  • Work with Project Managers to assess revenue that can be accrued (Work in Progress) and identify what should be deferred on a monthly basis.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and foster relationships with both internal and external clients and suppliers.
  • Monitor accounts to detect overdue payments and conduct collection outreach.
  • Assist with additional project maintenance, analysis, and activities as directed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel.

  • Ability to maintain accuracy under pressure and manage time effectively.
  • Experience working with senior management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to propose viable solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of delivering clear and concise information in both written and verbal formats to diverse audiences.
  • Detail-oriented and meticulous in work.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and confident in working independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to build and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
