Position Overview:

The Project Accountant plays a crucial role in supporting a diverse range of internal clients, collaborating closely with Project Managers to facilitate the initiation of new projects and manage related financial processes.

This role is essential in ensuring precision and uniformity across all accounting tasks. The Project Accountant is responsible for monthly invoicing, managing accrued and deferred revenue journal entries, recognizing revenue, reporting on government contracts, and overseeing collections.

This position reports directly to the Director of Finance.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Review and validate project terms to ensure alignment with contractual agreements during project initiation.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to execute monthly billing and verify the accuracy of invoices sent to clients.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is available to support billing processes.
  • Work with Project Managers to ascertain which revenues can be accrued (Work in Progress) and which should be deferred on a monthly basis.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and foster relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor accounts for overdue payments and conduct follow-up collection calls.
  • Assist with additional project maintenance, analysis, and activities as assigned.
  • Deliver assigned tasks accurately and punctually.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

  • Ability to maintain accuracy under pressure while managing time effectively.
  • Experience in collaborating with individuals at senior management levels.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to propose practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying clear and concise information in both written and verbal formats to diverse audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with a meticulous approach to work.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and confident in working independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and suppliers.
