Role Summary and Requirements

The Oncology Nursing Supervisor is responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care and overseeing all operational functions within the unit during their designated shift. Collaborating with the management team, the Nursing Supervisor directs, assesses, and evaluates nursing practices in alignment with established protocols, serves as a resource for staff, and exemplifies a commitment to the organization's mission and values to enhance patient experiences and clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates patient admission and discharge processes to promote efficient care delivery.
  • Engages in ongoing evaluation of patient care quality in collaboration with management.
  • Works with subject matter experts and managers to foster a collaborative environment that enhances outcomes and service quality.
  • Promotes a patient-first approach and participates in service recovery as needed.
  • Assists in improving staff engagement through the implementation of nursing strategies, including regular staff rounding.
  • Provides input on hiring, training, and development of new staff, and ensures compliance with personnel policies.
  • Manages staff scheduling and labor resources in accordance with patient care needs.
  • Oversees inventory management and assists in the procurement of supplies and equipment.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current RN license in Texas or a compact license.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • ACLS certification required within one year of hire.
  • PALS certification preferred.
  • ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy certificate course required within one year of hire.
  • A minimum of two years of RN experience in ICU, BMT/Hematology, or PCU is strongly preferred.
