Role Summary and Qualifications

The Oncology Nurse Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while overseeing all unit functions during designated shifts. Collaborating with the management team, the Coordinator directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing practices in alignment with established protocols, serving as a resource for staff and embodying the organization's mission and values to enhance patient experiences and clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care.
  • Engages in continuous assessment of care quality in collaboration with management.
  • Works with experts and managers to foster a teamwork-oriented environment that promotes improved outcomes.
  • Advocates for a patient-first approach and participates in service recovery when necessary.
  • Contributes to staff engagement initiatives by implementing current nursing strategies.
  • Provides input on hiring, training, and development of new staff, including performance evaluations and compliance with personnel policies.
  • Assists in staff scheduling and manages labor in accordance with patient care needs.
  • Oversees inventory control and assists in managing supplies and equipment.
Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program.
  • Current RN license in the State of Texas or a compact license.
  • Current certification in BLS from the American Heart Association.
  • ACLS certification required within one year of hire.
  • PALS certification preferred.
  • Completion of ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certificate Course required within one year of hire.
  • A minimum of two years of RN experience in ICU, BMT/Hematology, or PCU is strongly preferred.
