Patient Care Technician

The Patient Care Technician is responsible for executing nursing tasks and providing essential patient care services.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensures patients' personal hygiene and daily living needs are met.
This includes assisting with bedpans and urinals, administering baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves, as well as aiding patients during showers.
Supports patients during meals and assists with feeding. Mobilizes, turns, and positions patients as necessary.Offers fresh water and snacks between meals.
Administers enemas, douches, nonsterile dressings, surgical preparations, ice packs, heat treatments, sitz baths, and therapeutic baths, while also applying restraints when required.
Conducts intake and output checks; monitors vital signs and weight; performs urine testing, specimen collection, and post-mortem care.
Collaborates effectively as a team member in delivering care and aids in the orientation of new staff. Maintains positive working relationships with nursing unit personnel and other healthcare staff through effective communication.
Instills confidence in patients by upholding a professional appearance and executing duties competently and compassionately. Reports patient observations to the assigned nurse to facilitate professional evaluation.
With specialized training and written consent, may undertake additional and specialized tasks relevant to the designated area.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrates reliability through punctuality; maintains consistent attendance.
Ensures a safe environment for patients and colleagues, and transports patients and equipment as needed.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma preferred.
Successful completion of a nursing assistant program or equivalent experience.
Prior experience in a hospital setting with acceptable references preferred.
Must successfully complete a pre-employment assessment for nursing assistants.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds when necessary.
