Position Summary

The Logistics Management Institute is in search of a Sustainability Engineering Specialist to deliver engineering insights and support that will enhance energy efficiency and capabilities across a diverse range of facilities throughout their operational lifecycle. The successful applicant will ideally possess a background in electrical engineering and will be tasked with providing technical guidance in the development and execution of energy projects that align with current Federal energy and facility standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist clients in their facility energy project development and sustainability efforts by serving as a technical consultant for specific engineering issues.
  • Utilize specialized knowledge to provide solutions for engineering needs related to both new construction and the maintenance of existing properties.
  • Lead project meetings and collaborate with senior management, engineering experts, project managers, architects, and facility managers to address project requirements.
  • Conduct quality assurance evaluations of design documents and engineering studies, offering relevant technical recommendations.
  • Engage with service providers, federal managers, national laboratories, and other stakeholders to identify energy requirements and ensure successful project execution.
  • Monitor project progress from an engineering standpoint, assessing performance and implementing corrective measures as necessary.
  • Travel to various project sites as needed to verify work progress and compliance with specifications.
  • Support the management of existing Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs) by collaborating with energy service contractors to implement energy efficiency measures.
  • Oversee legacy third-party finance projects, ensuring compliance with annual measurement and verification reporting.
  • Identify and pursue financing options and grants to facilitate energy projects that yield significant savings.
  • Manage the performance of existing renewable energy systems and provide technical support for additional renewable energy initiatives.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and white papers on sustainability and energy data as required.
  • Analyze sustainable energy project reports and conduct assessments of energy, environmental, and economic benefits.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field).
  • Preferred: Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification.
  • Experience in analyzing energy consumption and life cycle cost analysis.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy technologies and electrical distribution infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in software tools for research, analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience in federal or utility energy projects is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects with varying schedules and budgets.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Must be eligible for a U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
