Job Summary

Chenega Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team in supporting the Department of Transportation's (DOT) Infrastructure Program. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing authoritative advice and analysis on climate change-related issues affecting all aspects of transportation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, coordinate, and evaluate climate policy affecting all aspects of transportation.
  • Support the development and coordination of policies and programs related to climate policy within DOT and other federal agencies.
  • Review case studies and reports on climate policy and proposals to determine their impact on proposed policy recommendations.
  • Prepare briefings of policy recommendations for review, consideration, and approval by senior leadership.
  • Conduct data analysis and reporting on NEPA compliance and its impacts on grant agreements and obligation of grant funds.
  • Research environmental issues in transportation, including greenhouse gas emissions, reduction strategies, climate change impacts, and consequences.
  • Ensure consistency with existing environmental laws and regulations while exploring innovative new strategies for transportation project development and delivery.
  • Evaluate program functions, policy initiatives, and studies related to climate policy.
  • Advise senior leadership on climate change and related policy issues affecting the transportation sector.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree
  • 5+ years of experience applying principles, concepts, and practices related to environmental impact on program activities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of environmental program requirements, federal policies, and procedures
  • Expert knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods to assess and improve environmental programs
  • Expert skill in designing and conducting strategic program studies
  • Close attention to detail and accuracy
