Job Summary:

As a Surgical Technologist Acute IV, you will play a vital role in providing patient care in the surgical suite while maintaining a safe work environment. This position requires exceptional surgical technology skills, aseptic technique knowledge, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in obtaining and organizing supplies and instruments prior to, during, and after surgical procedures.
  • Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
  • Assist Registered Nurse circulator in preparation of patient, assembly of supplies, instruments, equipment, and proper disposition of all specimens.
  • Assigned to heightened specialized procedures: neurosurgery and spine, cardiothoracic, vascular, complex orthopedics, and robotics.
  • Perform duties according to department policy and procedure.
  • Monitor surgical supplies and instrumentation for sterility prior to use and ensure that supplies are used in a judicious manner.
  • Monitor and document sterilization activities for completion.
  • Attend in-services/staff meetings and participate in Performance Improvement Process.
  • Participate in educational opportunities to increase competency and meet personal needs and goals.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology or successful completion of military training program for Surgical Technology or Operating Room Specialist.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • 5 years of total operating room experience in surgical technologist role.
  • 2 years of specialized training in one of the following areas: neurosurgery and spine, cardiothoracic, vascular, complex ortho, and robotics.
Physical Requirements:

This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional intermittent noise and exposure to conditions such as dust, fumes, and chemicals. The ability to communicate and write is essential, as well as the ability to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds. Use of both hands and all fingers is required for gripping, speed work, and precision during the operation of equipment/instruments and movement/positioning of surgical patients.
