Position Overview

The Senior Community Engagement and Program Coordinator is responsible for implementing a diverse range of initiatives aimed at enhancing the lives of senior citizens within the local area. This role is pivotal in fostering community involvement both within the center and in the broader community. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Irish and Irish-American demographics, alongside a background in social services, excellent organizational capabilities, and outstanding communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage the Aisling Center's 'Young at Heart' program, providing case management for seniors and clients requiring referrals and information on welfare entitlements. This may include conducting home visits for outreach purposes. Oversee daily activities, including weekly lunch programs and meal deliveries for homebound seniors.
  2. Design and implement new programs tailored for 'recently or actively retired' individuals, offering social and emotional support as necessary.
  3. Act as the intake coordinator for social service inquiries, collaborating closely with the Aisling Center's Licensed Clinical Social Worker to assess client needs. Responsibilities include conducting initial psychosocial evaluations and crisis risk assessments.
  4. Assist clients in completing benefit applications.
  5. Initiate and lead new community programs, such as support groups, psychoeducational workshops, seminars, and outreach events.
  6. Oversee the volunteer program, ensuring effective support for various initiatives, including those for the homeless and community service projects.
  7. Contribute to promotional content for senior and community initiatives, enhancing visibility and engagement.
  8. Support the Office Manager in the ongoing development of programs and services, providing front desk coverage as needed.
  9. Engage actively in community networking and fundraising events organized by Aisling Center.
  10. Contribute to the strategic planning and overall health of Aisling Center, fostering strong relationships with stakeholders, including community members, industry peers, benefactors, and officials.

Administrative Duties

  1. Report directly to the Executive Director and collaborate with the Licensed Clinical Social Worker for social service clinical decisions.
  2. Maintain confidential records in compliance with relevant privacy regulations.
  3. Compile and analyze statistics related to social services and community engagement efforts.

Qualifications

  1. A bachelor's degree in social science, social work, or a related field, with 1-3 years of relevant experience. Training or experience in addiction counseling and crisis intervention is advantageous.
  2. Experience working with diverse age groups, from youth to seniors.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CaseBook and Bloomerang is a plus.
  4. Willingness to work on-site, including occasional evenings and weekends for community events.
  5. Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team member.
  6. Strong communication skills, a positive demeanor, and a cooperative approach to work.
  7. Authorization to work in the U.S. and the ability to provide professional references.
