Position Overview

The Senior Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for implementing a diverse array of programs aimed at enhancing the lives of senior citizens within the community. This role emphasizes fostering connections both within the community center and in the broader community, while also supporting a comprehensive social services initiative that caters to individuals of all ages. Ideal candidates will have a deep understanding of Irish and Irish-American communities, alongside a background in social services, strong organizational abilities, and exceptional communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage the Aisling Center's 'Young at Heart' program, providing case management for seniors and facilitating referrals for general welfare services. This may include conducting home visits for outreach purposes. Oversee daily activities, including weekly lunch services and meal deliveries for homebound clients.
  2. Design and implement new initiatives for recently retired community members, offering social and emotional support as needed.
  3. Act as the intake coordinator for social service inquiries, collaborating closely with the Aisling Center's Licensed Clinical Social Worker to assess client needs. Responsibilities include conducting initial psychosocial evaluations and crisis assessments.
  4. Assist clients in navigating benefit applications.
  5. Develop and lead innovative programs for the local community, including support groups, psychoeducational workshops, seminars, and outreach events.
  6. Oversee the volunteer program, ensuring effective support for various initiatives, including services for the homeless and community engagement activities.
  7. Contribute to promotional content that highlights senior and community initiatives.
  8. Support the Office Manager in the ongoing development of programs and services, and provide front desk assistance as needed.
  9. Engage actively in community networking and fundraising events organized by Aisling Center.
  10. Play a vital role in the strategic planning and development of programs and services, fostering healthy relationships with stakeholders including community members, industry peers, benefactors, and officials.

Administrative Duties

  1. Report directly to the Executive Director and collaborate with the Licensed Clinical Social Worker for any clinical decisions related to social services.
  2. Maintain confidential records in compliance with privacy regulations.
  3. Compile and analyze statistics related to social services and community engagement efforts.

Qualifications

  1. A bachelor's degree in social science, social work, or a related field, with 1-3 years of relevant experience. Training in addiction counseling and crisis intervention is advantageous.
  2. Experience working with diverse age groups, from youth to seniors.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CaseBook and Bloomerang is a plus.
  4. Willingness to work on-site, including occasional evenings and weekends for community events.
  5. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  6. Strong communication skills, a positive demeanor, and a cooperative approach to teamwork.
  7. Authorization to work in the U.S. and the ability to provide professional references.
