About the Role:
The City of Durango is dedicated to maintaining high standards in our Capital Improvements Construction Management (CICM) Division. We oversee significant capital improvement initiatives, ensuring they adhere to quality, timeline, and budgetary expectations while providing a minimum three-year depreciable life.

Your Responsibilities:
As a Lead Construction Quality Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of our construction projects. Your duties will include:
  • Conducting thorough field inspections and reviewing construction plans to ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications, and codes.
  • Maintaining detailed records of all inspections and findings.
  • Ensuring adherence to waterline disinfection and testing protocols in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Monitoring compliance with temporary traffic control measures and recommending necessary adjustments.
  • Implementing and enforcing Storm Water Management Plans (SWMP) as per regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborating closely with CICM staff, contractors, and the community to provide clear information regarding construction impacts and regulations.
  • Gathering field data to assist in necessary plan revisions.
  • Training and mentoring other CICM Inspectors to ensure adherence to local and state standards.
  • Assisting in the administration of engineering contracts, estimating quantities and costs, and preparing change orders as needed.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
  • A high school diploma or GED, supplemented by college-level coursework in engineering, drafting, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in public works, construction, or technical engineering, with at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain essential certifications within specified timeframes.
  • In-depth knowledge of modern public works construction methods, materials, and practices.
  • Strong skills in conducting site inspections for various infrastructure and building projects.
