About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Engineer to join our team at Hornblower Group, Inc. As a key member of our Engineering Department, you will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of mechanical and hydraulic equipment onboard our vessel, Seaward Endeavor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical and hydraulic equipment, as well as lubricate moving parts of the engine and other machinery.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all vessel machinery.
  • Assist in ship's technical maintenance and follow all engine room procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and handle ship's technical jobs under the direction of the Chief Engineer.
  • Stand engine room watch while the vessel is underway or as needed.
  • Monitor and analyze cooling water, and maintain log of lube/oil quantities and consumptions.
  • Assist in maintaining the general condition and maintenance of machineries, steering gear, air conditioning, etc.
  • Provide on-the-job training and impart knowledge about vessel operations to crew members and new personnel.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Valid Merchant Mariners Credential (MMC)
  • Minimum DD-4000 endorsement
  • Valid U.S. Passport
  • Valid USCG Medical Certificate
  • QMED Endorsement
  • Valid TWIC Card
  • Ability to pass a physical exam and written exam
