Position Overview

The Home Loan Consultant is responsible for originating first mortgage loans and home improvement financing for clients.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duties include:

  1. Engaging with clients to originate residential loans by communicating directly with customers and reaching out to real estate professionals, builders, and other potential sources; conducting sales activities at various locations.
  2. Addressing inquiries from clients regarding the company's loan offerings and assisting with their applications.
  3. Staying informed about regulatory requirements and company policies related to lending; participating in regular compliance training.
  4. Promoting the organization's Community Reinvestment Act loan initiatives to real estate agents in underserved communities.
  5. Representing the company positively by engaging in community events and networking opportunities.
  6. Cross-selling and maintaining knowledge of the complete range of products offered by the organization, including lending and savings options.
  7. Understanding and adhering to fair lending laws and internal policies consistently.
  8. Effectively managing relationships with service providers and vendors; establishing expectations and performance metrics.
  9. Performing additional tasks as necessary.

Technical Skills

Preferred qualifications include:

  1. Proven sales experience.
  2. Background in customer service.
  3. Familiarity with mortgage lending practices and regulations.
  4. Experience in commissioned sales.
  5. Knowledge of financial services or banking.
  6. Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software; familiarity with Encompass, Cleartouch, OnBase, and various government and investor software/web portals is a plus.
  7. Experience with CRM software is preferred.

Education and Experience

Requirements include:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  2. NMLS certification is required.
  3. 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to lift, walk, stand, sit, bend, reach with hands and arms, climb, push/pull, and communicate effectively. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The work environment is typically quiet to moderate in noise level, and this position often requires work outside of a traditional office setting.
