Job Overview

Position Summary: The Loan Underwriting Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of timely, accurate, and consistent loan evaluations daily. This position requires adherence to the underwriting policies and procedures of American Pacific Mortgage, as well as compliance with investor guidelines.

Compensation: The salary for this role can reach up to $43.26 per hour, contingent upon experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Address internal and external quality control audit findings promptly and efficiently.
  • Underwrite a minimum of two loans daily while ensuring outstanding conditions are resolved swiftly.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of files for accuracy and completeness in line with the Underwriter Checklist and relevant guidelines.
  • Utilize Quality Control tools to assess files.
  • Maintain effective communication with processors and loan officers regarding the status of loan files and any conditions that need attention.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:
  • Preferred experience with Encompass software.
  • A minimum of three years of underwriting experience, including:
    • Government underwriting experience.
    • Conventional underwriting experience.
  • General familiarity with the following tools:
    • Mortgage Builder
    • Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Outlook
    • Internet navigation
Additional Preferences:
  • Availability during standard business hours.
  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary.
Skills:
  • Language Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting documents and communicating effectively.
  • Mathematical Skills: Capable of performing basic mathematical operations and computations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to understand and follow instructions in various formats.
  • Computer Skills: Strong knowledge of office software and systems, particularly Encompass.
Physical Demands:

The physical requirements of this position include regular sitting, using hands for various tasks, and occasional walking.

Work Environment:

The work environment is typically moderate in noise level and temperature, conducive to performing essential job functions.
