Position Overview

The Strategic Sales Manager for HMT's Domestic Regions is tasked with the crucial role of fostering sustainable sales of HMT Products and Services to clients and stakeholders within their designated territories. This position entails prospecting for new business, developing and nurturing relationships with existing clients, promoting HMT's offerings, and positioning sales opportunities for successful negotiation and execution.

Key Responsibilities

Prospecting and Market Development

  • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential customers and assess their capacity to utilize HMT products or services.
  • Analyze key business drivers for each potential client in the tank construction and maintenance sectors.
  • Evaluate the competitive landscape within each potential customer, including current contractors and service providers.
  • Collaborate with HMT Operations Management to gather valuable tank outage schedules and proactively engage in pre-outage sales activities.

Sales Strategy and Planning

  • Assess and prioritize existing and target customers to optimize resource allocation.
  • Develop and maintain Key Account Plans for strategic accounts and growth opportunities.
  • Establish sales objectives aligned with regional strategies and revenue targets.
  • Regularly update tactical plans to ensure ongoing progress toward sales goals.

Sales Activities

  • Engage in sales activities through various channels to promote HMT products and services, including cold calls and presentations.
  • Present HMT's capabilities in both general and tank-specific contexts.
  • Consult on specific tank opportunities to position HMT as a primary technical advisor.
  • Handle technical inquiries efficiently to provide customers with prompt and accurate responses.
  • Maintain consistent communication with customers to uncover upcoming projects and secure opportunities for proposals.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with key decision-makers to enhance HMT's presence and sales objectives.
  • Generate tailored proposals for HMT products, including equipment selection and cost estimation.
  • Facilitate bidding opportunities for repair, maintenance, and product offerings.
  • Collaborate with other regions to support cross-regional sales efforts.
  • Stay informed about HMT's products and solutions to enhance sales effectiveness.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Provide timely market activity insights, including forecasts, to assist management in decision-making.
  • Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes, including customer spending surveys.
  • Deliver regular updates on sales opportunities and market conditions.
  • Engage in sales team discussions to share best practices and competitive intelligence.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to travel as needed (estimated travel 50%).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Construction, Industrial, Manufacturing, Sales, or Business Development.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
