Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of a District Office Chief, a Supervising Transportation Planner, the incumbent serves as the District 4 Complete Streets Performance Coordinator. In this position, the incumbent plans, organizes, and manages the district's complete streets performance activities and data, in coordination with other district functions, to support implementation of Caltrans goals, policies, and guidance on complete streets, the State Highway System Management Plan, asset management, and the District's strategic and modal plans and priorities. This includes identification and development of performance metrics and monitoring tools, collection, and use of data to support implementation strategies, planning, program, and project development, as well as internal coordination, external engagement, and reporting.

The incumbent works closely with the District Complete Streets Coordinator, Transportation Planning, Asset Management, Traffic Operations, and other functions within the District and Headquarters to develop, track, and report complete streets performance in the District and monitor implementation of complete streets assets on the State Transportation Network and implementation of needs and priorities identified in modal plans and studies. The incumbent also manages and coordinates with other functions to identify, update, share, and in some instances collect active transportation and transit data for use in planning and project development. The incumbent communicates regularly with staff, management, external partners, consultants, and stakeholders and coordinates with and directs the work of staff in other functions to assist in complete streets performance tracking and reporting. The incumbent demonstrates leadership and the ability to develop performance tracking and reporting tools and strategies in line with Caltrans strategic goals, objectives, and policies.

Working Conditions

Position located in Oakland, Alameda County. This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans's evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee's designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

  • Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a State-owned or leased vehicle.
  • Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required. Failure to submit a Statement of Qualifications will disqualify candidates from the hiring process.
