Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Transportation Engineer to join our team at the Department of Transportation. As a key member of our project development team, you will be responsible for directing the work of an engineering staff and maintaining close communication with project team members, consultants, and headquarters functional units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct the preparation of highway planning studies and the development of plans, specifications, and estimates for transportation engineering projects.
  • Assign projects to staff and provide guidance on the proper use of design standards and project development policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that high-quality transportation projects are completed in accordance with Caltrans project development process and engineering practices and standards.
  • Coordinate with other districts and headquarters units on matters pertaining to transportation to expedite project delivery.
  • Provide oversight of transportation engineering projects prepared by locals/consultants for compliance with Caltrans' standards and practices.
Requirements
  • A valid Professional Engineering License is required for appointment.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a State-owned or leased vehicle.
