Overview:
This role is situated within the DFR framework, focusing on supporting Indiana residents in their pursuit of public assistance.

The Lead Eligibility Support Specialist is tasked with guiding and mentoring a team of Eligibility Assistants, ensuring they effectively assist individuals navigating the public assistance system.

This position serves as a critical link between Knowledge Services, DFR Management, and the Eligibility Assistant team. The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional organizational skills and a collaborative spirit, essential for fostering a productive work environment. A comprehensive understanding of the Eligibility Assistant's responsibilities and expectations is crucial.

Responsibilities:
• Mentor and support Eligibility Assistant personnel

• Travel to DFR offices as required (daily/weekly travel).

• Provide coaching and guidance to the Eligibility Assistant team

• Ensure adherence to policies and procedures as outlined by DFR Local Office Management

• Implement procedural updates from management

• Compile and submit daily and weekly reports on activities undertaken while assisting Eligibility Assistant staff

• Offer ongoing training and direction to Eligibility Assistant personnel

• Provide production support as necessary

Qualifications:
• Previous experience as an Eligibility Assistant is essential

• Highly organized and analytical

• Capable of delivering clear and concise instructions

• Demonstrated leadership abilities

• Patience and understanding when working with others

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Proficient in computer applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

• Independent and self-motivated

• Solid background in customer service

• Preferably holds a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Counseling or Social Services; however, a High School Diploma or GED is required

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a social service setting, preferably within state or local government


This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact within the community and among Eligibility Assistants.

Ongoing training will be provided to equip you with the necessary skills for success in this role.


Physical Requirements:
• Frequent sitting and handling of objects with hands.

• Occasional standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Vision requirements:
• Ability to perceive information in print and/or electronically.

Location:
• The primary location for this role will be determined based on candidate selection, with office visits assigned as necessary.
