Key Responsibilities:

  • Intricate Account Reconciliations: Conduct thorough reconciliations for various accounts, including but not limited to bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and interdepartmental accounts. Identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Accrued AP Management: Supervise and implement the cleanup of accrued accounts payable, ensuring all entries are accurate and correctly classified. Work towards clearing outstanding liabilities while ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and evaluate financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Audit Assistance: Provide support for both internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation, addressing inquiries, and ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and policies.
  • Process Enhancement: Identify opportunities for improvement in accounting processes and propose changes to boost efficiency and accuracy.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other departments, including procurement and finance, to gather essential information and resolve issues related to account reconciliations and AP.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant accounting principles, regulations, and institutional policies.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. CPA or MBA is highly desirable.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of accounting experience focusing on complex account reconciliations and accounts payable cleanup, preferably within an educational or government-funded setting.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems (e.g., Oracle).
    • Strong grasp of accounting principles and practices.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
    • Attention to detail and precision.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency and familiarity with other data analysis tools.

Additional Information:

  • This is a temporary role with an anticipated duration of 3-6+ months, with a potential option for permanent conversion.
  • Hybrid work arrangement - 4 days onsite with remote Fridays and a possible second work-from-home day after a training period.
