Job Overview

Objective:

The primary goal of this role is to execute hands-on tasks while demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of processes, policies, and procedures related to quality assurance, food safety, and material integrity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Familiarity with essential documents and procedures, including:
    • Quality Manual
    • Quality Policy
    • Quality Management System
    • SQF Levels 2 & 3
    • Document Control Procedures
    • Calibration Procedures - ensuring accuracy and appropriate placement of calibration labels
    • Control of Records Procedures - maintaining traceability and testing documentation
    • Corrective and Preventative Action Procedures
    • Control of Nonconforming Products Procedures
    • Allergen Control Procedures, including awareness, labeling, and cleanup
    • Regulatory compliance with OU, SQF, GMPs, OSHA, HACCP, and USDA standards
    • Understanding of GMPs for Dietary Supplements (21 CFR Part 111) and ability to be trained on related regulations
    • Managing the process for identity testing of dietary supplement ingredients
    • Conducting necessary checks on dietary supplement packaging materials and documenting findings
    • Performing required checks on dietary supplement packaging and ensuring proper documentation for production runs
    • Executing ATP testing of equipment and interpreting results
    • Serving as a backup to the Quality Director regarding SQF requirements
    • Communicating with raw product suppliers to verify compliance with specifications and maintaining appropriate records
  • Assisting with food safety and sanitation inspections within the facility
  • Conducting allergen testing and interpreting results
  • Performing sanitizer concentration testing
  • Coordinating and shipping product and environmental samples to external laboratories
  • Executing a successful mock recall within four hours of initiation
  • Conducting final product testing and inspection for moisture and bulk density analysis; performing baking and product performance testing as required
  • Performing receipt inspections on incoming products
  • Conducting environmental microbial sampling and maintaining associated documentation
  • Gathering, storing, and maintaining product samples
  • Maintaining an up-to-date database of food ingredients for specifications, Letters of Guarantee, SDS, Kosher certifications, and audit compliance certificates
  • Effectively communicating across multiple levels using verbal, written, and computer skills
  • Performing tasks requiring manual dexterity and possessing basic math skills, including understanding weights, calculations, and color distinctions
  • Exhibiting visual acuity to assess quality standards and material integrity, providing guidance as necessary
  • Ability to stand for an entire shift and lift, twist, bend, stoop, push, and carry up to 15 pounds; some tasks may require lifting up to 60 pounds and working at heights
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution with a minimum of 1 year of experience in quality assurance, inspections, or manufacturing operations, or
  • A degree or certification in a closely related field with at least 6 months of experience in quality assurance, inspections, or manufacturing operations
