About the Role:

CareOregon is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Senior Tribal Affairs Director. This role will be responsible for developing and executing Tribal strategies and activities across the organization, fostering engagement between CareOregon and Tribal entities, and serving as a senior cultural advisor to all CareOregon lines of businesses and departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster effective engagement and relations with Tribal partners, facilitating two-way communication between Tribal health leadership and CareOregon teams.
  • Facilitate meetings between CareOregon, Tribal health leadership, and/or OHA through standing meetings or as agreed upon by all interested parties.
  • Engage OHA, the nine federally recognized Tribes of Oregon, and Native American Rehabilitation Association (NARA) in identifying and addressing barriers to member needs.
  • Develop, advise, and/or consult with teams related to culturally appropriate training and education programs relating to services and other matters relating to the specific concerns of Oregon's Tribal communities and the coordinated care health care system.
  • Provide guidance to support creating, implementing, and sustaining cultural intelligence across the enterprise.
  • Participate in conversations regarding Tribal interests or community partnerships within CareOregon, working to support cross-cultural services between CareOregon and other communities.
  • Serve as a key member of CareOregon's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team, providing subject matter expertise in culturally responsive communications enterprise-wide.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in related work, such as healthcare, health care administration, public health, social services, legal, and/or work on Tribal/treaty matters.
  • Minimum 4 years' of engaging with Tribes and Tribal people through either work or lived experience.
  • Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and automobile liability coverage or access to an insured vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in a supervisory position.
