Service Supervisor Job Description

Carter Machinery Company, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Service Supervisor to join our team on 2nd shift at our corporate headquarters in Salem, Virginia. As a Service Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a team of technicians and ensuring the successful operation of the department. Your primary goal will be to meet customers' needs at the highest level by organizing, communicating, and delegating responsibilities, while setting priorities, coaching employees as needed, and providing technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Handle incoming calls and respond to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Produce quotations and estimates for customers, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Open and close work orders, adjusting time as necessary, and dispatching or assigning technicians to jobs.
  • Develop and implement effective maintenance schedules to ensure equipment is properly serviced and maintained.
  • Collaborate with the service team to identify areas for improvement and implement process changes to increase efficiency and productivity.
Requirements:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, employees, and management.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team of technicians.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in the use of computer software and technology, with the ability to adapt to changing systems and processes.
Physical Requirements:

The Service Supervisor position requires the ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time, with occasional lifting, carrying, and maneuvering of items up to 70 pounds in weight. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
