EHS Compliance and Safety Advisor

Position Overview: The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Compliance and Safety Advisor plays a pivotal role within the Pacific Northwest EHS team, concentrating on the execution of compliance programs, evaluation of operational practices for risk mitigation, incident analysis, and corrective measures. This position is primarily focused on health and safety, with a secondary emphasis on environmental concerns. The EHS Advisor will contribute to EHS initiatives associated with the development of innovative technologies in Reality Labs Research and Hardware teams. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in chemical processing and thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and execute site-specific safe operating protocols, customize EHS compliance programs, and conduct risk assessments for various equipment, tasks, and work environments.
  • Lead thorough incident investigations to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and devise action plans aimed at risk reduction.
  • Facilitate training sessions on relevant EHS subjects, including but not limited to waste management, wastewater treatment, chemical safety, respiratory protection, and fall prevention.
  • Perform regular site inspections to evaluate and rectify all environmental, health, and safety issues.
  • Collaborate with the EHS team and business stakeholders to assess complex processes, respond to incidents, and enhance operations to ensure a safe and environmentally compliant workplace.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in chemical, safety, or environmental engineering, occupational safety and health, or a related scientific discipline.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the implementation and enhancement of EHS programs and systems within a fast-paced setting, such as research or manufacturing.
  • Active involvement in spill response teams and the capability to utilize self-contained breathing apparatus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist.
  • Experience in semi-industry and/or handling high-hazard chemicals.
