Job Summary

The Residential Aide will work under the supervision of program leadership, providing shift coverage with a flexible, rotating shift schedule and weekend coverage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct crisis intervention to clients and prepare incident reports of such interventions.
  • Monitor clients when they are taking their medication if necessary.
  • Inform staff of any prescriptions given to clients that must be filled, especially during late-night and weekend shifts.
  • Brief incoming shifts on the status of the facility, including all clients in and out of the facility.
  • Give verbal and written warnings to clients and hand out appropriate consequences, such as extra chores or removal of privileges.
  • Inform treatment staff of any concerns via an entry in the communication logbook or a note in the treatment staff mailbox.
  • Make copies of forms for store passes, cigarette distribution, meal checklists, and other purposes.
  • Serve as a staff escort when necessary.
  • Participate in educational training to enhance skills related to the job function.
  • Perform various other tasks and responsibilities, such as facilitating morning and evening focus groups.
  • Participate in staff meetings as required.
  • Provide coverage in the cafeteria during meal times, monitor the client bed area, and remove any unnecessary items in accordance with funder rules.
  • Coordinate and oversee morning dispatches, petty cash, and escorts for clients as assigned.
  • Some Residential Aides will provide escorts for clients as assigned and needed, based on driver's license status and eligibility, determined by the SUS Driver Eligibility Policy.
  • Conduct hourly house and room rounds, recording time and findings in the communication logbook on all shifts.
  • Keep the supervisor informed of all relevant information regarding the residents and the program.
Qualifications
  • Required Education and Experience
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Driver's license preferred, not required.
    • 1-year work experience in residential treatment or a similar setting.
    • Ability to provide crisis intervention using good interpersonal skills with a high level of maturity and responsibility.
  • Preferred Qualifications and Skills
    • Basic knowledge of human services.
