Director of Quality and Continuous Improvement

At Sunbelt Solomon, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Continuous Improvement Quality to lead our company's initiatives in cost savings, waste elimination, customer satisfaction, product defect reduction, and market share growth. This role is responsible for managing and facilitating all Continuous Improvement and Quality initiatives and strategy for the company.
Key Responsibilities:- Drive a continuous improvement culture within the organization by prioritizing opportunities and executing a Lean transformation strategy and metrics.
- Drive plant cost savings initiatives.
- Ensure successful definition and execution of large, cross-functional improvement initiatives tied to annual strategic priorities.
- Provide guidance for projects and kaizen events; may host sessions as well as events to improve productivity and accelerate growth.
- Challenging organizational leaders when necessary to create an action-based culture of continuous improvement and increased quality and Lean-oriented thinking throughout the organization.
- Work with the finance department to evaluate project savings estimates, validate reported continuous improvement benefits, and ensure accurate accounting of quality productivity.
- Stay up to date with developments in management and process optimization.
- Execute product quality strategies and implement process change that drives improvements across products, supporting and suppliers. Lead customer quality-focused improvement programs.
- Publish aligned quality metrics, measurement, and monitoring of quality system effectiveness to ensure quality goals are met. Consolidate, analyze, and report regional quality metrics on a regular basis to identify areas for improvement; lead review of quality metrics and use disciplined root cause and problem-solving methodologies to identify, implement, and correct/prevent actions specific to the region as well as lessons learned within the business unit.
- Establish and develop strong working relationships with internal customers and work with cross-functional teams to accomplish common goals for the region.
- Provide progress updates to executive leadership team and sponsors to communicate progress and provide general support/leadership to the organization on the use of Lean and Six Sigma continuous improvement tools.
- Define appropriate KPIs (such as Cost of Poor Quality, etc.) to measure performance, identify improvement opportunities and projects, and drive execution to deliver improvement.
- Drive continuous manufacturing quality improvements through process, audits, standard work, statistical analyses, process improvements, tooling investments, and compliance.
- Set a high standard of accountability and results orientation.
- Hire, train, oversee the daily workflow of the department.
- Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Ensure adherence to approved budget.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in business administration, process management, operations, industrial engineering, or engineering management required. Master's degree preferred.
- 10 years' experience or more in Industrial Manufacturing CIQ strategies and principles of Lean and Six Sigma, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Root Cause analysis, Kaizen, Project management, and Value Stream Mapping.
- The Director of CIQ must be an executor with strategic and analytical mindset and be an excellent communicator with top-notch presentation skills.
- Six Sigma Black Belt (preferred).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to weigh and manage priorities.
- Leadership and coaching skills.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including advanced skills with Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to work in high-paced and changing environments.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, and customers.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively train others.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Thorough understanding of company products and logistics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to exercise professional influence with tact and ethics when dealing with vendors, co-workers, and customers.
