Job Overview

Position Summary:

We are looking for a proficient Application Engineer to deliver expert assistance for eDiscovery software solutions. This position requires advanced problem-solving capabilities, SQL script creation, thorough documentation, and the guidance of junior personnel. The successful candidate will possess extensive knowledge of IT frameworks, especially within eDiscovery contexts, along with certifications in pertinent eDiscovery software and a robust history in application diagnostics and SQL scripting. This is a hands-on role that demands adaptability to new technologies and a commitment to best practices in both planning and daily operations. The Application Engineer will report directly to the Operations Manager and will be an integral part of the Operations team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expert Support: Deliver high-level support for eDiscovery tools such as Relativity and Brainspace, tackling intricate technical challenges in partnership with Systems, Storage, and Network Engineers.
  • System Oversight: Improve the security, dependability, and efficiency of applications through routine updates, vulnerability management, and ensuring system availability. Conduct upgrades and maintenance tasks during designated maintenance periods, adhering to a change management protocol.
  • Technology Management: Oversee and manage technology platforms including SQL, RabbitMQ, and Elastic, focusing on configuration, installation, and patching processes.
  • SQL Development: Design and execute SQL scripts for generating reports and manipulating data within eDiscovery databases.
  • Ticket Management: Address ticket escalations, manage tickets through to resolution, consistently update ticket statuses, follow ticket hand-off protocols, and escalate issues to senior team members as necessary.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed documentation including FAQs, Knowledge Base entries, troubleshooting manuals, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Training & Guidance: Mentor junior staff and provide training to enhance their capabilities in resolving complex issues.
  • Role Flexibility: Adjust to various assigned tasks in response to evolving technological environments.
  • Alert Response: Address critical alerts during business hours and after hours according to the established on-call rotation schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA) or equivalent experience.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: At least 5 years in IT or eDiscovery roles.

Technical Proficiencies:

  • Expertise in SQL, with a strong capability in crafting dynamic queries using T-SQL.
  • Solid understanding of PowerShell scripting.
  • Skills in monitoring and profiling network, disk, SQL Server, and other infrastructure components.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Relativity Infrastructure Specialist (RIS) certification or equivalent experience.
  • Application Expertise: Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining platforms such as Brainspace, Reveal, Nuix, LAW, or other eDiscovery solutions.
  • System Diagnostics: Proficiency in OS-level troubleshooting with Windows Server or Linux, along with experience in AWS public cloud infrastructure.
  • Scripting Expertise: Proficiency in Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar scripting and DevOps tools.

Job Requirements:

  • Practical understanding of IT concepts, protocols, industry best practices, and ITIL processes.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Capacity to collaborate with teams across various time zones and regions.
  • Willingness to work evenings or weekends as necessary for scheduled or emergency maintenance.
