POSITION SUMMARY

The Banking Associate I plays a vital role in delivering a range of financial services and transactions to clients. This position is responsible for addressing customer inquiries and banking requirements while identifying opportunities to introduce enhanced or new products and services offered by United Community Bank. Key responsibilities include ensuring the accurate and timely execution of transactions, safeguarding both bank and customer assets by adhering to established protocols, and fostering customer relationships through exceptional service.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong verbal and communication abilities
  • Fundamental math and analytical skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and effective time management
  • Capacity to apply sound judgment and learn intricate procedures
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to utilize standard office equipment
  • Completion of the new hire training program and mentorship initiatives
  • Fulfillment of annual compliance training requirements
  • Engagement in training for operational systems and any additional training as assigned
  • Participation in regular team meetings and training sessions
  • Optional completion of the Certified Teller Program
  • Compliance with all required training, including anti-money laundering and Bank Secrecy Act training, as well as other internal and external educational programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute paying and receiving duties effectively
  • Maintain precision in transaction processing and handling
  • Confirm transaction amounts for accuracy and apply holds when necessary
  • Adhere to check cashing protocols and verify endorsements
  • Comply with operator limits and seek supervisory approval when required
  • Successfully manage split deposits and other teller functions
  • Issue official bank checks
  • Process Savings Bond redemptions
  • Handle cash advances and night deposits
  • Accept loan payments and manage payment skips
  • Verify and package currency and coin
  • Balance cash drawer daily and report discrepancies
  • Ensure teller station is stocked with necessary supplies
  • Assist with branch capture tasks
  • Follow all security protocols and operational guidelines
  • Document transactions accurately in the monetary instrument log
  • Complete necessary referral forms
  • Process payments for services as applicable
  • Prepare courier packages as needed
  • Provide support in drive-in operations when required
  • Assist with ATM responsibilities
  • Engage in initiatives to promote core deposits and make referrals when appropriate
  • Maintain a working knowledge of operational systems
  • Understand and apply customer feedback principles
  • Handle transactions with care, sensitivity, and confidentiality
  • Exemplify outstanding customer service in all interactions

SUPERVISORY ROLE

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The role is based within the operational footprint of United Community Bank.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE

This is a full-time role that requires flexibility in scheduling, including potential evening and weekend shifts.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This position may involve up to 10% travel.
