Job Summary

Chemetall is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical Sales Representative to join our team. As a Technical Sales Representative, you will be responsible for selling Chemetall surface treatment chemicals to established and prospective customers in an assigned territory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers to understand their needs and provide tailored sales presentations and proposals.
  • Manage territory profitability by reviewing compensation margins, providing margin improvement through product selection and pricing, and ensuring technology provided strengthens the company's competitive position.
  • Plan and execute a weekly itinerary of calls to allocate time effectively and ensure proper territory coverage by industry, geography, and account potential.

Sales Execution

  • Calls on established and prospective customers to determine their needs and sell appropriate products to markets targeted by the business units of the company.
  • Makes proper number of calls per day based on territory requirements and must be able to physically service and call on existing and prospective customers.
  • Selects the process and right material to solve customer cleaning, sanitation, or surface treatment problems.
  • Makes sales presentations, both orally and in written, and answers customers' questions concerning product use.
  • Provides pricing quotes, price, and delivery policy within established limits, subject to approval.
  • Attains sales plan by securing new customers, increasing sales to current customers, and renewing orders.

Customer Service

  • Works closely with customers to build strong business relationships and maintains contacts with customers in relation to their service requirements.
  • Provides information on new products, methods, techniques, and other general information such as safety and disposal.
  • Trains customers and ensures proper and safe use of Chemetall materials.
  • Maintains records of activities in the territory as required by management and those records necessary for successful performance.
  • Reports competitive activities that impact sales in the territory.
  • Prepares and submits call reports, exception reports, and in-plant service reports, as required.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Engineering, or Business is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relatable experience is required.
  • B2B/outside industrial sales experience, in specialty chemical sales (metalworking or surface treatment) preferred.
  • Ability to make sales presentations and follow up with written proposals and manage customer contracts.
  • Well organized with sales planning and territory management skills.
  • Customer acquisition mentality for new customer acquisition and continuous up-/cross-selling opportunities (customer support/account management).
  • Build and strengthen customer relationships.
  • Technical consulting capabilities regarding products and processes; will learn and understand Chemetall product portfolio.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Travel for this position can be up to 50-60% with occasional overnight travel.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing since a company car will be provided.
