Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Sonic Healthcare USA. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for coordinating the work activities of staff, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures, and achieving departmental goals and objectives.

This is a full-time position with a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, and paid time off and holidays.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform clinical laboratory testing following established guidelines and protocols.
  • Identify and resolve technical problems, escalating unresolved issues to the Laboratory Manager or Senior Medical Technologist as needed.
  • Ensure timely workflow and reporting during designated work times, and maintain competency of direct reports in laboratory procedures and protocols.
  • Maintain personal skill competencies and ensure training and education needs are met to comply with licensing and accrediting standards and regulations.
  • Provide accurate patient test results by following approved protocols and procedures to assist physicians in patient evaluation and assessment.
  • Ensure timely release of work and appropriate utilization of supplies to maintain cost-effective and efficient operation.
  • Participate in the laboratory's External Laboratory Proficiency Programs and communicate effectively with clients, physicians, and other department employees to exchange information and coordinate activities.
  • Evaluate processes and protocols for efficiency and accuracy, making recommendations for improvement as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and completion of an AMA-approved program in Medical Technology.
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures as normally acquired through 4 years of medical technology experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform at high standards and assume job responsibilities as normally acquired through 3-6 months of orientation in the specific area.
  • Tennessee Medical Technology license and certification by ASCP or equivalent.
