Medical Laboratory Technician

Summit Medical Group, a leading primary care organization in East Tennessee, is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join their team. This is a full-time opportunity that offers a chance to work in a dynamic and patient-centered environment.
Responsibilities:- Adhere to established policies and procedures, including OSHA and CLIA, and company-established protocols.
- Perform phlebotomy for patients scheduled for laboratory tests in a timely and clinically appropriate manner.
- Promptly attend to specimens received in the laboratory, process STATs in a timely manner, and deliver to the technologist for testing as soon as possible.
- Notify supervisors of problems related to processing.
- Answer telephone requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform processing, ordering, and releasing of tests in the laboratory information system (LIS) with minimal errors.
- Label specimens accurately and route them to the appropriate laboratory testing area.
- Prepare specimens to be sent to outside reference laboratories, including looking for additional specimens or an alternative specimen to be sent.
- Complete testing issues and handle them appropriately.
- Scan in specimens and requisitions into the scanning systems.
- Leave work areas clean and organized, and promptly clean up specimen spills according to OSHA guidelines.
- Interact in a cooperative manner with supervisors, coworkers, physicians, and the public.
- Adhere to all appropriate aspects of the corporate compliance program.
- Maintain strictest confidentiality.
- Actively participate in site-level Quality Improvement Activities.
- Education: High school diploma (or equivalent) required. Post-secondary studies in phlebotomy or clinical assisting program preferred.
- Experience: One year of medical office/clinical experience with phlebotomy preferred.
