Role Overview:

  • Leverage Data Acquisition tools to identify performance discrepancies and conduct thorough evaluations of system efficiency and equipment functionality.
  • Perform comprehensive visual, mechanical, and electrical assessments, maintenance, and testing on a variety of commercial and industrial solar installations.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and communication challenges, and develop effective corrective action strategies.
  • Execute commissioning and auditing services for solar electric systems.
  • Ensure that all Operations and Maintenance tasks at project locations comply with OEM specifications and warranty conditions.
  • Operate safely in 600Vac and 1500Vdc environments with minimal supervision.
  • Provide prompt electronic documentation of field services rendered and constructive feedback to the Energy Solutions Services team.
  • Record faults, deficiencies, and nonconformities on-site, maintaining accurate logs of time, materials, and travel expenses.
  • Engage in effective communication with internal teams and external vendors, actively participating in team discussions.
  • Report on general site conditions, including vegetation management challenges, security concerns, and debris-related impacts.
  • This role involves travel, primarily focusing on specific regions.
  • Expect a travel commitment of approximately 50%, with readiness for short-notice travel and flexible hours.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or technical certification in the electrical field is preferred.
  • NABCEP certification as a PV Installer Specialist or PV Commissioning & Maintenance Specialist is advantageous.
  • An active Journeyman Electrician's license is preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Specific experience in Solar O&M or installation is required.
  • Familiarity with power generation and solar technologies is essential.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary.
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification is highly desirable.

Skills:

  • Ability to work autonomously while seeking guidance when necessary.
  • Experience with electrical systems and solar photovoltaic technologies.
  • Comfortable working in low voltage and non-hazardous environments with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in identifying and managing hazardous situations.
  • Knowledge of I/V curve tracing software and thermographic analysis techniques.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting using Isolation Diagnostics Equipment.
  • Ability to interpret PV System As-built drawings and electrical single-line diagrams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time management capabilities.
  • Familiarity with Data Acquisition Systems is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Confident in safe vehicle operation.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and walk distances of up to three miles daily.
  • Aptitude for navigating ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Visual acuity for depth perception, color differentiation, and no field of vision impairments.
  • Comfortable working in diverse climatic conditions, including extreme temperatures.
  • Ability to exert force as needed to move objects.
