Job Summary

Corporate Temps is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as an Assistant to the City Manager. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong understanding of municipal government operations, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the City Manager in managing and directing the activities of assigned departments, including strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Work with department heads to plan, organize, coordinate, and implement programs affecting assigned areas of responsibility, ensuring effective delivery of City services and functions.
  • Coordinate with other City managers on matters affecting their areas of responsibility or on special projects assigned by the City Manager, fostering collaboration and communication.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, political science, or related field; Master's degree in Public Administration preferred.
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of increasingly responsible experience in local government, or related field including three (3) years in a supervisory role.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of modern policies and practices of municipal government, including personnel management, budget preparation, and administration.
  • Knowledge of City codes, ordinances, resolutions, policies, and guidelines regarding the City organization and operations.
  • Knowledge of functions and activities of City departments, including planning, organizing, staffing, and directing the efficient and effective delivery of City services and functions.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of municipal government budget preparation and administration.
  • Knowledge of state laws, regulations, and guidelines governing City operations.
  • Skill in preparing and administering municipal budgets, as well as planning, organizing, and directing the efficient and effective delivery of City services and functions.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze comprehensive reports, establish priorities, and direct the allocation of City resources.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively both verbally and in writing, as well as establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, city officials, and the public.
Work Environment

The work is typically performed in an office setting with occasional travel to various locations within the City.

Supervisory and Management Responsibility

This position is responsible for assisting with management and supervision of all departments in the City, ensuring effective leadership and direction.
