Position Overview:
Located in the Americas and reporting to the Associate Manager of Trade Compliance for the Americas, the Trade Compliance Analyst for North America plays a vital role within the Global Trade Compliance team. This position is essential for ensuring that the company's operations, internal controls, and reporting mechanisms align with customs and trade regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Adherence:
    Ensure compliance with U.S. and Canadian import/export laws and regulations. Stay updated on trade regulation changes and adjust internal processes accordingly. Assess U.S. export classifications and licensing requirements. Support C-TPAT, U.S. Export, and Sanctions Compliance initiatives.
  • Risk Assessment:
    Identify and evaluate risks linked to international trade activities. Formulate and implement strategies to minimize compliance risks. Conduct reviews of import post-entry and export filings to ensure accuracy and adherence to compliance policies.
  • Customs Broker Coordination:
    Collaborate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to ensure compliant import/export operations. Address customs clearance issues and monitor broker performance through key performance indicators, developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and participating in performance reviews.
  • Training and Development:
    Provide expertise on product valuation, royalties, Free Trade Agreements (FTA), import restrictions, and customs regulations. Assist in creating trade compliance training materials and resources.
  • Documentation Management:
    Maintain comprehensive records of all relevant import and export transactions in line with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Process Optimization:
    Identify inefficiencies and compliance risks within processes, developing automated or semi-automated solutions to enhance compliance.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration:
    Work closely with logistics, supply chain, legal, and finance departments to ensure cohesive compliance efforts. Engage in cross-functional projects related to trade compliance and communicate essential compliance requirements to internal stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 2-4 years of experience in trade compliance or a related field, possessing a foundational understanding of U.S. customs regulations.
  • Ability to foster collaboration and build trust with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to work with diverse data sets to extract and communicate key insights.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and proactive work ethic.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly advanced Excel skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional trade compliance certification (e.g., U.S. Licensed Customs Broker, Certified Customs Specialist, or Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer).
  • Experience with Global Trade Management Systems.
  • Familiarity with Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Harmonized System (HS) classifications.
  • Experience with Data Visualization Tools (e.g., PowerBI).
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish and English.
