At Andrus Childrens Center, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional Back End to join our team. As a key member of our residential care team, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, predictable, and therapeutic living environment for children in our care.

Job Summary

The Direct Support Professional Back End will provide close supervision, counseling, and support to children during all cottage-based activities. You will be responsible for planning and implementing individual and group initiatives to build children's skills and self-esteem. Additionally, you will ensure that the basic needs of children are met, and that the cottage is maintained in a safe, orderly, predictable, therapeutic, structured, and clean condition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assure the safety of each resident and for the cottage community
  • Actively supervise residents at all times, based on their age and level, to assure everyone's safety
  • Enact the program schedule as written and on time
  • Use all aspects of Sanctuary in the care provided
  • Use all aspects of trauma-sensitive care in the services provided
  • Use all techniques of TCI to prevent triggering, intervene early to prevent escalation to crisis, for safe management of any crisis that arises, and for assuring safety and learning after any crisis
  • Use the scan system to record consistent monitoring by conducting visual checks of residents every 15 minutes for the duration of the shift
  • Document work in a clear, timely way with scanning, nightly logs, round-up, census, and other reports
  • Establish safety (physical, emotional, moral, and social) within the cottage
  • Execute consistent communication with colleagues and residents through established systems set forth by manager/department

Requirements
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred (in-service trainings are mandatory)
  • Minimum of HS diploma (or equivalent) plus one year of experience working with children or adults with developmental or behavioral disabilities
  • Computer proficient and navigate Microsoft Office suite
  • Multi-lingual a plus
  • Driver's license, preferred
  • Ability to access and utilize ADP on smartphone or other device for access to agency programs

Physical/Travel Requirements
  • Must possess ability to sit, stand, walk, run, climb stairs, and lift weights of up to 30 lbs
  • Candidates who are successfully hired, must participate in our Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training which concludes with a written and verbal test, and will be evaluated on conducting a proper physical restraint
