Andrus Childrens Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team on weekends. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, predictable, and therapeutic living environment for children in our care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assure the safety of each resident and the cottage community
  • Actively supervise residents at all times, based on their age and level, to ensure everyone's safety
  • Supervise residents by participating with them in scheduled activities
  • Enact the program schedule as written and on time
  • Use all aspects of Sanctuary in the care provided
  • Use all aspects of trauma-sensitive care in the services provided
  • Use all techniques of TCI to prevent triggering, intervene early to prevent escalation to crisis, and manage any crisis that arises
  • Assure that Safety Plans and ICMPs are in place, available to all staff, and actively used to guide treatment
  • Understand the importance of teamwork and good communication
  • Plan and enact smooth transitions from one activity to the next
  • Arrive consistently and on time for assigned shifts, meet expectations for use of leave, professional presentation, and responsibility for specific tasks
  • Support the overall strategic plan of the organization
  • Ability to adhere to our organization's core values and commitments

Requirements:

  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred (in-service trainings are mandatory)
  • Minimum of HS diploma (or equivalent) plus one year of experience working with children or adults with developmental or behavioral disabilities
  • Computer proficient and navigate Microsoft Office suite
  • Multi-lingual a plus
  • Driver's license preferred
  • Ability to access and utilize ADP app on smartphone or other device for access to agency programs

Physical/Travel Requirements:

  • Candidates who are successfully hired, must participate in our Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training which concludes with a written and verbal test, and will be evaluated on conducting a proper physical restraint.
