Job Summary

The University of Texas at Arlington Research Institute (UTARI) is seeking a full-time Research Scientist to join the Automation & Intelligent Systems Division. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and development projects in robotics, computer vision, machine learning, and control systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designing, developing, and testing new technologies
  • Leading and supporting grant opportunities
  • Fostering collaborations
  • Directing teams of students and junior researchers
  • Contributing to patentable ideas and managing a dynamic mix of lab work and project management tasks
Requirements
  • Bachelors of Science in relevant engineering or science discipline with four (4) years of relevant experience for Research Scientist II
  • Bachelors of Science in relevant engineering or science discipline with eight (8) years of relevant experience for Research Scientist III
  • Bachelors of Science in relevant engineering or science discipline plus 12 years of relevant experience for Senior Research Scientist
  • Proven track record of securing research funding and grants
  • Extensive publication record in peer-reviewed journals
  • Proven leadership and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters of Science in relevant engineering or science discipline with two (2) years of relevant experience, or PhD in relevant engineering or science discipline for Research Scientist II
  • Master of Science in relevant engineering or science discipline with five (5) years of relevant experience, or PhD in relevant engineering or science discipline with two (2) years of relevant experience for Research Scientist III
  • Master of Science in relevant engineering or science discipline with eight (8) years of relevant experience, or PhD in relevant engineering or science discipline with five (5) years of relevant experience for Senior Research Scientist
Preferred Qualifications for All Levels Research Scientist
  • Familiar with C/C++, Python, MATLAB, OpenCV, supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning, Torch, Tensorflow, GPU programming, ROS
  • Experience in proposal writing
