This role involves collaborating closely with one of the leading Federally Qualified Health Centers in New York. It is a Contract-To-Hire opportunity, providing a pathway to establish a career with a premier healthcare organization.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, and thus, we require applicants with relevant experience. A minimum of a high school diploma or GED along with a Medical Assistant Training Certificate is essential; however, an Associate's degree with a Nationally Certified Medical Assistant certificate is preferred.
We are eager to onboard qualified candidates for this role promptly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the rooming process, take vital signs, conduct vision and/or hearing assessments, and accurately record patient information in eCW, including laboratory results and visit reasons.
- Perform in-house laboratory tests, ensuring quality control and maintenance of equipment in line with organizational standards.
- Draw blood and collect specimens as directed by healthcare providers, processing them accordingly.
- Conduct routine laboratory tests in areas such as serology, hematology, and chemistry, utilizing standard techniques and equipment.
- Prepare examination rooms and assist during patient examinations and treatments.
- Maintain a well-stocked clinical area, ensuring all materials are current and disposing of outdated supplies appropriately.
- Clean and sterilize equipment in accordance with organizational policies and manufacturer guidelines.
- Perform basic clerical duties, including answering phones and addressing inquiries effectively.
- Ensure all logs are maintained accurately and keep records for laboratory tests.
- Conduct EKGs as required.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED with a Medical Assistant Training Certificate or national certification.
- Experience in a high-volume healthcare setting.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
