About the Role

The Senior Internal Auditor is a key member of the Audit Services team at Hackensack Meridian Health, responsible for planning and executing operational, financial, and compliance audits of moderate complexity. This role requires a high degree of independent judgment and the ability to work effectively with all levels of management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and organize work assignments, developing audit steps to complete audits efficiently.
  • During audits or special investigations:
    • Identify problem situations or inadequate conditions and extend testing to determine root causes.
    • Assemble, organize, and evaluate relevant information.
    • Exercise good judgment, considering implications of all alternatives.
    • Modify audit scope or approach as circumstances dictate.
    • Make cost-effective recommendations based on facts.
    • Assist leaders in developing control procedures, processes, and policies.
  • Prepare and update audit programs, internal control questionnaires, and confirmations.
  • Prepare neat, orderly, and conclusive work papers, documenting all areas audited.
  • Write and communicate thoughts effectively, objectively, and clearly.
  • Perform or assist in special investigations, including allegations of wrongdoing.
  • Keep the Director and leaders informed of problems or unusual circumstances.
  • Follow up on and summarize the status of open internal and external audit recommendations.
  • Assist in developing the annual risk assessment and audit work plan.
Requirements
  • BS/BA degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related majors.
  • Minimum 3 years of internal auditing and/or public accounting experience.
  • Advanced auditing skills, familiarity with information technology, and ability to work effectively with all levels of management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience using Word, Excel, email, and the Internet for research and information gathering.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using TeamMate, ACL, PeopleSoft, Epic, Access, Visio, ActiveData, and Business Intelligence software.
  • Certified Internal Auditor or Certified Public Accountant.
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor or Certified Fraud Examiner.
