Astra Group, LLC is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician. Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize a mobile service vehicle to conduct service calls on equipment in various locations.
  • Inspect, repair, and adjust heavy machinery including graders, scrapers, trenching machines, and bulldozers.
  • Overhaul and tune diesel and gasoline engines.
  • Grind valves and service transmissions.
  • Repair and replace components such as pistons, crankshafts, and hydraulic systems.
  • Rebuild undercarriages and manage track and roller changes.
  • Document daily activities and provide reports to management at the end of each week.
  • Assess machine conditions through inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn or damaged parts.
  • Ensure equipment readiness by completing preventive maintenance and upgrades.
  • Address deficiencies by repairing, adjusting, and replacing major assemblies and systems.
  • Verify machine performance through test drives and system adjustments.
  • Adhere to federal and state vehicle regulations by testing engines and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle service records.
  • Control costs by utilizing warranties and evaluating service options.
  • Enhance job knowledge through educational opportunities and technical literature.
  • Conduct annual inspections on trucks and trailers.
  • Diagnose issues and collaborate with management on cost-effective repair solutions.
  • Perform routine maintenance including oil changes and fluid checks.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and hydraulic systems, as well as engines and transmissions.
  • Order necessary parts and supplies.
  • Adjust functional components of machinery and equipment.
  • Operate and maintain the service vehicle.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to provide personal tools.
  • Welding and fabrication skills are essential.
  • Possession of a valid Class A or B CDL.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Capability to pass pre-employment and random drug tests.
