Position Summary

This role entails providing outpatient orthopedic and sports physical therapy services primarily to a pediatric demographic, ranging from school-aged children to young adults. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to independently manage the full spectrum of professional services, from patient intake to appropriate coding and billing practices, in accordance with legal and ethical standards as well as hospital policies.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct evaluations and provide treatment for patients with various sports injuries and orthopedic conditions, including but not limited to musculoskeletal injuries, overuse syndromes, neurological impairments, and trauma. This includes:
  • Demonstrating an understanding of typical development as it pertains to athletic activities, whether competitive or recreational.
  • Utilizing pediatric and athletic activity-based behavior management strategies tailored to the child's age and abilities, framed within a family-centered care approach.
  • Formulating treatment plans with clear, measurable goals and timelines, ensuring mutual agreement through discussions with family or guardians.
  • Implementing patient care plans using a variety of treatment modalities such as exercise, neuromuscular re-education, joint and soft tissue mobilization, taping, electrical stimulation, and thermal modalities as prescribed by a physician.
  • Providing education to patients and families to enhance function and facilitate a return to activity or sport, including the development of home exercise programs.
  • Adhering to the Standards of Care as outlined by the APTA and PCH Policies & Procedures Manual.
Maintain timely and accurate documentation in compliance with Joint Commission, state and federal regulations, and CARF standards, contributing to Total Quality Management initiatives.Coordinate and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams within PCH and community resources to optimize the effectiveness of care plans. Participate in discharge planning, care conferences, and outpatient rounds.Foster and maintain professional relationships within the department, PCH, and the community, while effectively interacting with physicians, families, and hospital personnel. This includes involvement in in-service training programs and providing supervision to rehab technicians and students.Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
