Automation Systems Engineer Overview

Our client, a leader in the industrial manufacturing domain, is in search of a proficient Automation Systems Engineer to join their team in Knoxville, TN.

In this position, you will report directly to the Electrical Engineering Manager and will be responsible for designing and managing tailored projects from the initial concept through to successful installation.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 7 years of experience in the field of Automation Engineering, with a strong command of PLC systems. Familiarity with RS Logix and AutoCAD is also beneficial.

The successful applicant will be self-motivated and capable of independently executing designs, supervising project developments, and professionally addressing customer inquiries related to usage and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop custom automation solutions from concept to installation
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure seamless integration
  • Maintain adherence to design specifications throughout the project lifecycle
  • Occasionally visit installation sites to provide assistance
  • Contribute to the enhancement of departmental policies and procedures
  • Ensure that projects are completed within budgetary constraints
  • Source necessary components that cannot be produced in-house
  • Expand professional knowledge by exploring other automation systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is required
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as an Automation Engineer is required
  • Proficiency in CAD and PLC systems is essential
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation is required
