OVERVIEW

This role leverages three years of engineering expertise to engage in engineering and quality assurance tasks that are deemed to have 'basic complexity' in both size and scope. The position is tasked with delivering technical support and guidance for engineering and quality assurance initiatives, which includes defining and coordinating design reviews, implementing inspection plans, developing programs/projects, and employing statistical methods, audits, and continuous improvement strategies to align activities with the mission, values, and objectives of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all significant design concepts, methodologies, and agreements established with all stakeholders involved in the project.
  • Support Project Engineering in generating reports that detail work progress and the Contractor's adherence to the schedule, shop drawings, and other submissions.
  • Assist the Project Engineer with various project management duties.
  • Keep a detailed log or diary to track Contractor manpower and hours on-site, weather conditions, data related to work directive changes, change orders, or altered conditions, a list of site visitors, daily activities, decisions made, and general observations.
  • Aid the Project Manager during the procurement and/or construction phases of a project, which encompasses project management, construction oversight, and coordination with governmental entities and the Authority's operational departments.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager on project management tasks.
  • Consult with supervisors regarding any unusual challenges, developments, contractual issues, and policy matters.
  • Adhere to all safety and security policies and procedures of the Authority and department, as well as all relevant job safety responsibilities. Report any safety concerns, compromises, or hazards that may impact operations, the public, oneself, or fellow employees. Take personal responsibility for safety and promote the safety of others.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management, along with three (3) years of progressive and relevant work experience demonstrating the ability to fulfill the technical and supervisory responsibilities of the role.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
  • Previous relevant experience in the transit sector within the engineering field is preferred (including transit automotive or railroad mechanical equipment, transit infrastructure, and/or transit operations).
  • A valid Driver's License is required.
