OVERVIEW

This role requires the application of knowledge acquired through three years of engineering experience. The incumbent will engage in engineering and quality assurance tasks characterized by basic complexity in terms of size and scope. The position is also accountable for providing technical guidance and support for engineering and quality assurance functions, which include defining and coordinating design reviews, implementing inspection plans, and developing programs/projects. Additionally, the role involves utilizing statistical methods, conducting audits, and applying continuous improvement strategies to align activities with the mission, values, and objectives of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all significant design concepts, methodologies, and agreements established with all stakeholders involved in the project.
  • Support Project Engineering in generating reports that detail work progress and the Contractor's adherence to the schedule, shop drawings, and other submissions.
  • Assist the Project Engineer with various project management activities.
  • Keep a detailed log to track Contractor manpower and hours on-site, weather conditions, changes in work directives, change orders, job site visitors, daily activities, decisions, and general observations.
  • Aid the Project Manager during the procurement and construction phases of projects, which includes project management, construction oversight, and coordination with regulatory agencies and internal departments.
  • Collaborate with supervisors on unique challenges, developments, contractual issues, and policy matters.
  • Adhere to all safety and security policies and procedures set forth by the Authority and department, as well as all relevant job safety responsibilities. Report any safety concerns or hazards that may impact operations, the public, oneself, or colleagues. Take personal responsibility for safety and encourage the safety of others.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management, along with three years of progressive relevant work experience demonstrating the ability to fulfill the technical and supervisory duties of the role.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
  • Previous experience in the transit sector within the engineering field is preferred, including transit automotive or railroad mechanical equipment, transit infrastructure, and/or transit operations.
  • A valid Driver's License is mandatory.
