Primary Objective:
To provide effective leadership for custodial operations on campus.

Establish and adhere to systematic cleaning and maintenance protocols to uphold a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency for the building and its surroundings.


Qualifications:

Essential Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to comprehend and execute detailed written or verbal instructions
Familiarity with cleaning, maintenance, and safety protocols
Capability to perform minor repairs
Proficient handling of cleaning materials
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal abilities

Experience:
Minimum of two years in custodial services

Key Responsibilities:
Custodial Oversight:
  • Delegate tasks to custodial staff and ensure completion aligns with district standards. Provide training as necessary.
Cleaning Duties:
  • Execute and uphold established cleaning schedules, including waste disposal and cleaning of floors, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of school premises, including sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, and recreational spaces.
  • Adhere to local regulations regarding the storage and disposal of waste.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ordering additional items as required.
Maintenance and Repairs:
  • Perform minor repairs as needed and report major repair needs to the supervisor.
  • Control heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to ensure appropriate temperatures and economical resource usage.
  • Assist in preparing facilities for regular and special events, including moving furniture or equipment as directed.
Safety Responsibilities:
  • Take charge of opening and closing the building each school day. Verify that all exit doors are operational and panic bolts function correctly during occupancy hours. Ensure compliance with facility security protocols.
  • Inspect machinery and equipment for safety and operational efficiency.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques while performing job duties, including lifting and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to safety guidelines.
  • Address unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any issues that cannot be immediately resolved to the supervisor.
  • Adhere to district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned by the campus principal or designee.

Supervisory Duties:
Oversee the work and assign tasks to custodial staff.

Mental and Physical Demands:

Tools/Equipment Utilized:
Buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, shampooer, lawn mower, edger, weed eater; small hand tools; small power tools

Posture:
Frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion:
Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching, and overhead reaching

Lifting:
Regular heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over)

Work Environment:
Exposure to both indoor and outdoor conditions, including slippery or uneven surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, and hazardous materials; irregular working hours may be required.

Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional stability under stress.
