KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts cleaning and maintenance of facilities, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, carpet shampooing, waxing, polishing, and scrubbing various surfaces such as floors, stairways, hallways, restrooms, offices, common areas, and lobbies.
  • Ensures restrooms are clean and well-maintained; performs window washing; dusts, polishes, and rearranges furniture as necessary.
  • Keeps assigned equipment in a clean and functional state.
  • Maintains a professional appearance by wearing the designated uniform in a clean and tidy manner.
  • Adheres to safety protocols and utilizes safety equipment as required, reporting any hazards or malfunctioning items.
  • Promotes energy efficiency by ensuring that unnecessary lights are turned off in various areas.
  • Operates within established guidelines and reports any uncertainties to the supervisor.
  • Occasionally relocates furniture and assists with work orders that may involve heavy lifting.
  • Participates in mandatory training sessions and monthly meetings.
  • Provides assistance to the university's duplicating and mail services.
  • Contributes to recycling initiatives by emptying recycling bins and waste containers.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
  • One year of relevant work experience is preferred, particularly in housekeeping, hospitality, or cleaning services.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Availability to work evenings and/or weekends as required.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary.
  • Proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking; ability to understand written instructions and safety materials.
  • Must have legible handwriting and possess corrected vision to 20/20, along with normal hearing capabilities.
  • Ability to manage stressful situations, particularly regarding time constraints and limited access to resources.
  • Effective communication skills and sound judgment in customer service interactions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and navigating stairs.
  • Frequent activities include standing, kneeling, bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting.
  • Regular walking, climbing, grasping, and reaching overhead; may involve driving and operating potentially hazardous equipment.
  • Exposure to challenging physical environments, including noise, temperature extremes, and hazardous materials.
  • Work may be performed indoors and outdoors, on uneven surfaces, and in varying weather conditions.
