Adjunct Faculty

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to join our team at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science. As a Genetic Counseling Instructor, you will play a critical role in shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver high-quality course materials and syllabi in genetic counseling.
- Participate in the development of required documents, such as self-studies and reports.
- Teach genetic counseling courses in the fall, spring, and summer semesters as needed.
- Complete online submissions of attendance and grading in the university portal.
- Utilize course management systems to store and share course documents.
- Assess student learning outcomes for courses taught.
- Contribute to course curriculum design and modifications as needed.
- Attend department meetings and faculty development seminars.
- Participate in department activities associated with the instructional program.
- Promote positive relationships with personnel and departments on campus.
- Master's degree from an accredited institution required.
- Demonstrated coursework in genetic counseling and subject-specific work-experience and/or expertise required.
- Meet competency requirements (experience in content area within the last five years).
- A minimum of 1-5 years of related teaching experience is desired.
- Record of successful teaching experience in a postsecondary program is preferred.
- Commitment to student learning outcomes and evidence-based teaching practices.
- Knowledge of and interest in the university mission.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using a variety of mediums.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong computer knowledge and skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of students.
- Ability to establish and maintain a collegial working relationship with faculty and students.
