DESCRIPTION
Adjunct Instructors are temporary, part-time faculty. Antelope Valley College invites applications for our applicant pool for Coaching (Women's Golf Coach) discipline.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Instruct students in the assigned discipline
  • Assignment may include teaching courses during the day, evening, online courses, and/or offcampus sites.
  • The assignment entails coaching the Varsity Women's Golf team and all aspects related to the Golf program;
  • Assignment of offseason conditioning and team courses based on applicant meeting minimum qualifications;
  • Coach and administer all aspects of the Women's Intercollegiate Golf program;
  • Select, train, and supervise assistant coaching and game operations staff;
  • Motivate and guide studentathletes to achieve academic success and assist in their matriculation to the fouryear level and/or in meeting their vocational training goals;
  • Evaluate, plan, and coordinate all programs relevant to the success of studentathletes in the Intercollegiate Golf program;
  • Oversee preparation of the schedule;
  • Monitor and stay within the assigned budget;
  • Engage in approved fundraising activities to supplement the program budget;
  • Assist in the identification, procurement, and inventory of supplies and equipment for the Intercollegiate Women's Golf program;
  • Ensure all facilities and modes of transportation are used safely and maintained properly;
  • Promote the Intercollegiate Woman's Golf program within the community and our contiguous recruiting areas through recruiting, public appearances, promotional efforts, community service, camps, clinics, etc;
  • Observe all Antelope Valley College District (AVCD) Board Policies and Procedures;
  • Comply with all California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA), Western State Conference, and college rules, regulations, and policies;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in

physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education

OR

Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND Master's degree in any life science, dance, physiology,

health education, recreation administration or physical therapy OR the equivalent

No Antelope Valley College Equivalency

DESIRABLES:

  • Successful experience in coaching at the club level or higher;
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit;
  • Demonstrated ability in managing the various aspects of a golf program, including, but, not limited to, academic advisement, budget, coaching, compliance; evaluation, facilities, fundraising, marketing, operations, scheduling, and student support;
  • Ability to plan and direct the conditioning, training, practice, match, and behavioral conduct of all studentathletes in the program;
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and promote an Intercollegiate Golf program;
  • Evidence of continued professional development or involvement in the sport of golf;
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all people, including persons of diverse cultures and language groups and people who have disabilities;
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment;
  • Ability, interest, and willingness to develop and maintain working relationships with club, high school, and fouryear coaches so as to recruit, retain, and matriculate studentathletes;
  • Willingness to work with students having a wide range of skills, motivation, athletic, academic, or vocational goals
  • Ability to evaluate collegiatelevel athletic prospects;
  • Familiarity with current guidelines governing Intercollegiate Woman's Golf (CCCAA, NCAA, etc.).
