Credit Risk Manager

Job Overview

The Credit Risk Manager plays a crucial role in safeguarding the financial interests of the organization by evaluating the creditworthiness of potential clients and nurturing ongoing customer relationships. This position is responsible for reviewing and authorizing credit applications in accordance with established standards for commercial entities.



Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with external clients to confirm payment statuses and ensure adherence to commitments that support the company's cash flow objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to address billing discrepancies, disputes, and unapplied payments.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist in filing claims in small claims courts and provide necessary documentation in bankruptcy cases.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports on collection activities and outcomes as required by the business unit.
  • Lead bi-weekly or monthly Accounts Receivable meetings.
  • Create and maintain electronic customer files, including executed credit applications, trade references, credit reports, financial documents, contracts, and purchase orders.
  • Prepare necessary documentation with recommendations for third-party collections.
  • Utilize knowledge of state bond and lien laws to protect receivables and support the execution of lien waivers as needed.
  • Analyze risk exposure based on customer payment behaviors and credit sources, including credit reports, trade references, and public records.


Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

3+ years of relevant experience.

Hands-on experience with accounting, collections, and related software.

Working knowledge of commercial credit regulations, procedures, and operations.

Strong analytical skills, with the ability to create and manage financial spreadsheets in Excel.

Ability to assess financial data to determine creditworthiness and identify potential risks.

Capability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.

Attention to detail in reviewing financial documents and managing accounts.

Proactive approach to managing responsibilities and tasks.
