JOB SUMMARY:
The role involves preserving the original design and functionality of animated figures, props, and sets utilized in various attractions. Responsibilities encompass cleaning, repairing, installing, and finishing components such as skins, shells, costumes, props, and set pieces, while also providing access for technical inspections and repairs. Proficiency in diverse techniques, materials, and tools for silicone skin repair, fiberglass finishing, scenic painting, and other artistic processes is essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintenance and Repair: Oversee the upkeep and installation of flexible and rigid coverings, including costumes and wigs. This includes preparation, cleaning, painting, and documentation of work performed. Tasks may involve mending or replacing coverings and applying various painting techniques.
- Set Maintenance: Ensure the integrity of show sets through cleaning, sculpting, and painting. Responsibilities include mending or replacing backdrops and other soft materials, utilizing various painting methods to maintain visual quality.
- Prop Fabrication: Design, fabricate, and install props, including planning, cleaning, molding, and finishing processes. Maintain a clean workspace and document all activities.
- Technical Support: Assist maintenance teams by providing access to figures and props for inspections, including mechanical disassembly and reassembly.
- Installation of Fasteners: Fabricate and install various fasteners and attachments for figures and props, ensuring secure and functional installations.
- Inspection and Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of figures, sets, and tools for wear and damage, documenting findings and participating in quality assessments.
- Safety Compliance: Actively engage in Environmental, Health & Safety protocols by adhering to established policies and participating in team activities.
- Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Associate's degree in Visual Arts, Scenery Production, Technical Theater, or a related field is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts, Scenery Production, Technical Theater, or a related field is highly regarded.
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in set and prop fabrication and maintenance, particularly with animated figures, is required.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.
COMPENSATION:
